The aim of this newsletter is to update you with the latest trends and availability of essential oils, fragrances and vegetable oils. This gives you an understanding of potential causes of price fluctuations and the ongoing availability of your favourite essential oils.

 

Essential Oil Status Report

Sandalwood oil East Indian, we are awaiting the next Government wood auction, however the situation continues to appear very bleak and very little wood is believed to be available for distillation.

Bay Oil, steady demand continues for this oil.

Spearmint Oil, the current crop is satisfactory in size. The first crop for this year is expected to be approximately 750-800 tons.

Lime Oil, The oil sourced from Mexico is currently being produced.  However, it looks as if Mexican cold pressed oil remains in short supply and may become more difficult to source in the following months.

Grapefruit Oil, continues to become more difficult to source as demand remains high.

Clove Leaf Oil, with the global clove prices having risen sharply over the last 1 -2 months in the spice markets, due to the increased demand and fears of a significantly reduced crop in Indonesia, Madagascan producers are witnessing increased orders of the spice & Oil. Also the current situation with the province of Aceh Indonesia complicates matters further.

Coriander Seed Oil, the adverse weather conditions in Russia will have an impact later this year with reports of crops being delayed by a month. Yields are expected to be down. Production in Egypt has been good.

Nutmeg Oil, demand remains fairly steady for this oil.

Lavender Oil, the crops in France, Ukraine and Bulgaria have been reduced by approximately 30% due to the severe European Summer.

Geranium Oil, the new crop from China has begun, and the new Egyptian crop is expected to be good.

Ginger Oil, the current Chinese crop has been very good, with plenty of supply, and still remains a good buy.

Cinnamon Leaf Oil, there have been recent floods and landslides in Sri Lanka which have impacted on the planting areas.

Tea Tree, demand for this oil remains good, and has been increasing over the last few weeks.

Petitgrain Oil, the South American producers have decreased distillation recently.

 

Vegetable Oil Status Report

Soyabean Oil, the new forecasts in the U.S. have resulted in higher stocks than estimated.

Olive Oil, the small stocks in Spain are creating shortages for the supply. It appears the situation will worsen over the next few months until next year's crop.

Sesame Oil, it is expected India will produce a better crop of Sesame oil than last year.

Evening Primrose Oil, the crop has been reduced from last year's level in China.

Safflower Oil, there has been a recent increase in demand for this oil.

 

Freight - Hazardous Goods

There are continuing increases in the costs involved with freighting hazardous goods. We anticipate these will continue.
