How should I store my essential oils?

The method of storage for essential oils is very important in determining shelf life. As essential oils are natural products, they can become rancid or go ‘off’ if not stored properly. Oils should always be stored in a coloured glass bottle and kept out of sunlight. Bottles should be tightly capped.

Essential oils are also very concentrated, and will erode certain materials. Therefore we suggest you avoid contact with plastic, painted or varnished surfaces and do not buy oils with rubber glass dropper tops. The oil will turn the rubber into a gum, which will ruin the oil.
