Camphor Oil White

(Cinnamomum camphora)

Product Code:ESCAM

The camphor tree can grow up to 35 meters (100 feet), and is native to Formosa (Taiwan), China and Japan. A significant tree that can grow very old, being at least 50 years old to produce the extracted oil. The entire tree is highly aromatic and has various uses from different parts of the tree. The distilled oil from the leaves (otherwise known as Ho Leaf), and the wood and branches (for Camphor oil), all have a presence of variable levels of safrole.

There are 3 main fractions of distinctive coloured variations after distillation - White (a light fraction) , a Yellow and Brown (both a medium fraction and not commercially available). Also, notably mentioned : A Blue camphor oil (a heavy fraction) has been noted by Robert Tisserand and Rodney Young, as indicated in their "Essential Oil Safety : A guide for Health Care Professionals" Book.

White camphor is the preferred choice in aromatherapy and is normally sold in over-the-counter products, as this oil contains the least (traces) of safrole and is of no cause of concern when used appropriately. The remaining other Camphor Oils are not recommended for use, due to their unstable levels of safrole.

Contains a minimum of 35% cineole.

This is simply Camphor Oil White that has been distilled to meet current BP specifications.

Safety Precautions : Flammable. May cause skin irritation in some.
